Equipment

  • Large mixing bowl
  • Large food storage container with lid

Ingredients

  • 2 ½ cup old fashioned rolled oats
  • ½ cup honey
  • 1 cup creamy peanut butter
  • ¼ cup ground flax seed optional
  • 2 teaspoons ground cinnamon
  • ½ cup semi-sweet or dark chocolate morsels
  • ½ cup red and green M&Ms tip: swap out the red and green M&Ms for any other color variation to make these bites a year round treat!

Instructions

  • In a large mixing bowl, add each of the ingredients.
  • Stir together until everything is combined and the mixture forms a loose ball (you can do a quick final mix with your hands before shaping the balls, but do try and minimize the amount you handle the mixture, as the color may start to come off of the candies).
  • Dampen your hands slightly with water (to prevent sticking) and begin forming into golf sized balls.
  • Place the balls onto a cookie sheet covered with parchment paper, or directly into a storage container, separating the layers with parchment paper.
  • Cover and chill for one hour until the energy bites are firm. Store refrigerated for up to one week (but they probably won’t last that long ?).

Notes

Make these easy Festive Energy Balls all year round - just switch out the color of the M&Ms that you use. These yummy treats are especially pretty made with pastel Spring/Easter M&Ms and a 50/50 mix of dark and white chocolate chips!
