Perfect Long Grain White Rice (Instant Pot Method)

This method of cooking rice shaves a few minutes off of the cooking time, but the biggest win is that you no longer have to deal with rice burning to the bottom of the pan, rice boiling over because the heat didn't get turned down quite low enough, or taste testing it along the way to make sure it is fully cooked. You'll love the ease and consistent results of cooking rice in your electric pressure cooker!

  • 1 Pressure Cooker

Ingredients
  

  • 4 cups water
  • 3 cups enriched long-grain white rice
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 2 tablespoons coconut oil or butter

Instructions
 

  • Add all ingredients to the 6 quart instant pot. Stir to mix in the salt, and then put the lid in place. Using the Pressure Cook setting, set the timer for 8 minutes on High. Refer to your owner’s manual if you are new to using your pressure cooker and not familiar with your machine’s settings.
  • Once the cooking time has been completed, release the pressure manually (also called a quick release).
  • Once the pressure has released, remove the lid and fluff the rice with a fork.
  • Now you’re ready for dinner (or breakfast…did you know that rice makes a delicious breakfast cereal? Just add brown sugar, cinnamon, a scoop of raisins, and a splash of milk, and your all set!) Enjoy

Notes

Got leftover rice? Rice is one of the easiest foods to freeze and is so versatile and handy. Frozen rice can be added to soup, turned into fried rice, warmed in the microwave to use as a side dish with stir fry, and so many other uses!
