This is an extra quick and tasty dump-and-go recipe for delicious Slow-Cooker Butter Chicken. Made with shelf-stable pantry ingredients, this scrumptious sauce can be stirred together in minutes and set to simmer in your Crockpot while you go about the rest of your day. Thanks to the store-bought jar of Butter Chicken sauce (here’s my favorite brand1), this sauce has the authentic Butter Chicken flavor you crave, while the addition of extra tomato sauce, diced tomatoes, and coconut milk stretches it into a budget-friendly family weeknight meal. It’s also one of my go-to potluck meals; I often take this delicious sauce and a pot of steaming rice to potlucks, and it’s always popular.
The easiest way to make perfect rice every time is in an Instant Pot. Here’s my recipe: How to Make Perfect Instant Pot Rice
I like to use canned chicken so I can have all the ingredients in my pantry ready to go, but you can also use chopped or shredded, fully cooked chicken breasts, or even leftover rotisserie or baked chicken.
Cauliflower makes a fantastic addition to the sauce; I often add cooked cauliflower just before serving, especially if I need to feed a crowd and want to stretch the sauce a little further without adding more chicken.
Butter chicken is typically served over hot cooked rice, but we also enjoy it over a bed of egg noodles. Use what you have on hand and be creative! Serve with a side of broiled or steamed veggies for a complete, nutritious dinner. In the pictures for this recipe, I broiled zucchini rounds as a side vegetable, but steamed broccoli is also fabulous.

A note on the spice level: since this recipe adds extra tomatoes and sauce to the jarred Butter Chicken sauce, the spice level is mild. This is perfect for my family, and for sharing with others who might not tolerate much spicy heat in their food, but if you prefer your sauce to have a little more heat, simply stir in a bit of red curry paste to your taste.
